      WOW! Now THAT is a shelter.

      If you haven't seen it, git'r done! It is a must to check out this beautiful log shelter in person. The size of it isn't apparent until you stand in front of it and see it for yourself.

      This build was an exceptional experience. We had at least 50 volunteers working on this at various times with a core of 20 people who worked non-stop to make this a reality. Mike from the ministry and his son as well as the builder of this structure and the excavator driver worked two LONG days along side us.

      In hind sight, it's hard to believe what we accomplished!

      There are so many individuals to thank that I worry that if I try, I'll leave someone out.

      First off, thank you, THANK YOU, to Mike Peters with Recreation Sites and Trails who pried open the government wallet to pay for this; Eric Menard who designed and built this quality hand made masterpiece; Gordon who operated the excavator with precision on a difficult site staffed by volunteers; Sason who assisted in organizing this event and worked his tail off at the build itself; Kim Schumacher, a founding member and involved in the build of the original shelter with the Valley Cana-Ratz Club in 1978; The Coastal Cruisers and Herd of Turtles for supplying a large portion of their members for labour on the build; the many individuals who went above and beyond in working long, hard hours over the course of 4 days in making this a reality;

      and finally, Robert, our prized chef, who fed us the most unbelievably tasty meals before, during and after these hard working days!

      I can't thank you all enough but I will try to do so in person over the coming months and years!

      Kim.
