Camp Fire Size Bans In Effect July 1, 2010

People will be sitting around smaller campfires in B.C. this summer under new rules taking effect on Canada Day.

The government is shrinking the size of fires from one metre across to about a half metre as of July 1 to try to reduce the risk of wildfires caused by careless people, Forests Minister Pat Bell said Thursday (June 24).

West Harrison FSR is scheduled to be closed

We received notice from Mike Peters, Recreation Officer, Chilliwack Forest District.

The two (2) bridges at 7km and 10km on the West Harrison Forest Service Road (FSR) are scheduled to be replaced and will require the FSR be closed during the replacement.

The closure would take place on the Tuesday or Thursday, June 22nd or 24th (next week). The closure will last for 5 days and can extend over the weekend of June 26th and 27th . MOFR has made arrangements for the two

Tim Hortons Picker, Vest, and Bag

Thanks to all that came out to help with the Stave Lake Cleanup last week. It was a huge success and we’re preparing a summary to post shortly.

In the meantime, we need your help … Tim Hortons had loaned up some mechanical pickers, vests, and blue garbage bags/sacks that are extremely useful in picking up smaller items from the ground. Everyone that used one was asked to sign out the item(s) and return them at the end of the day. Well, we’re missing one of each and there is a penalty
