Director of Regions - Jason Belanger

Hi fellow members, I'm Jason Belanger. I have been part of this amazing organization for over five years, and I am running for re-election for Director of Regions. As well as serving on the Board of Directors for my past term and a half, I am also one of the 4WDABC Wheeling Wisely Trainers. I grew up in Pitt Meadows and spent a ton of my younger years camping and exploring. This time spent in the backcountry is what made me fall in love with it.

It has been a true honour to serve as your Director of Regions during the past three years. My number one goal was to recruit more Regional Representatives to build engagement across the province. I'm happy to say that our group of Regional Representatives have grown each and every year. As Director of Regions, it has also been my job to communicate the many ideas and requests of the Regional Representatives to the Board and facilitate action. I'm fortunate that my profession allows me to travel to many areas regularly so that I have many opportunities to meet and work directly with our Regional Representatives. I believe that this active and ongoing communication is one part of why we've been able to bring on and build connections with so many great Regional Representatives during my past term.

Power in numbers. In recent years we've had amazing membership growth and have gained increasing support from both government agencies and private companies. I believe with work from all of us, incorporating Tread Lightly principles, we can gain far more access across the Province. For this, we rely on our Regional Representatives as local ambassadors. The more Regional Representatives we have, the more we can accomplish, and as Director of Regions, I will continue to build this network.

Common goals. 4WDABC brings people with the same love of the outdoors together. With this as the focus, we can start working toward our goals. This could be saving another fire tower from demolition or taking over a rec site...

Common goals. 4WDABC brings people with the same love of the outdoors together. With this as the focus, we can start working toward our goals. This could be saving another fire tower from demolition or taking over a rec site that the governments cannot take care of anymore – all in the name of creating new wheeling destinations for our members. Even with the restrictions this past year, so many new announcements appear to be on the horizon. I can say we are possibly on the cusp of another 16 possible sites saved for all of us to enjoy.

I would be honoured to serve as Director of Regions for the next term to help bring these possible 16 new possible destinations to fruition by working with and gaining more Regional Representatives and working with them throughout the province. These new sites are in many new areas, many areas you may be close to you! Vancouver Island, Okanagan, West Kootenays and the Cariboo!

I remain dedicated to volunteering my time for the benefit of the entire wheeling community, whether it is delivering off-road training to the Community or helping grow our sport in other ways. Over the next two years, I hope to work with as many of you as possible to keep what access and sites we have as well as grow to keep as many as possible!
